Caitlin is a drummer who has long admired gamelan for being an ensemble primarily composed of percussion. Her first love is rock and roll, whether in playing drums in garage bands in her childhood, her eight-year tenure with San Francisco band The Dry Spells, or delivering poor karaoke renditions of Heart songs with her friends. Caitlin joined Dharma Swara in 2014 after playing at Bard College as an undergrad. For her, learning to play gamelan has been a source of both artistic inspiration and meditative moments when one can be lost in interlocking rhythms. When not playing music, she leads advocacy and member engagement for Freelancers Union to help make sure artists get paid for their work.
