Gusti Komin is a musician, artist, and teacher from the village of Pengosekan, Bali. He was born in 1978 and studied music from an early age with his father, renowned musician I Gusti Ketut Kerta. As a teenager, he enrolled at the Indonesian Institute for the Arts (then called Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia). During his studies, he played regularly in his village gamelan and at wayang performances (shadow puppet plays) throughout Bali. As a founding member of the virtuosic Balinese gamelan ensemble Çudamani, he has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States. For more than a decade, he has taught the gendér wayang, reyong, and kendang instruments to local and foreign students out of his family home, located a short distance from the village of Ubud.
