Nora Stanley is a saxophonist and composer who grew up playing gamelan with renowned composer and instrument builder Daniel Schmidt. Since moving to New York in 2021 Nora has been reconnecting with her love for gamelan music and finding ways to integrate the interlocking melodies, harmonies and driving spirit of the music into her practice as a woodwinds player, composer and improviser. She is involved in several projects including her own quartet and an electro-acoustic duo project slated to release its debut record in 2023. When not performing, Nora is a music instructor and teaches piano, flute and saxophone to children and adults around the New York metro area.
