Tori has been a student, educator, and performer of gamelan for over a decade, and a member of Gamelan Dharma Swara for nearly as long. She has been always fascinated by all things paradoxical in nature--and following a happenstance discovery of gamelan in college, quickly fell in love with its divergent ideas of mechanical precision and emotive flexibility propelling this ancient tradition forward.

While pursuing her degree at Wellesley, Tori joined Boston’s Gamelan Galak Tika, led by composer and Bang on a Can All Stars co-founder Evan Ziporyn. Tori became a member of Dharma Swara in 2007 and participated in the ensemble’s distinguished Bali tour in 2010. In addition to performing as both a musician and dancer, she has held various executive positions in the organization since 2009, now serving as President and director to the music ensemble.

Complementing her artistic practice, Tori works in sales and operations at a fragrance house, helping to create things that are as ephemeral as they are enduring.
